Katharina Kircanski

Katharina is a Staff Scientist in the Emotion and Development Branch, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Intramural Research Program, where she serves as Chief of Experimental and Quantitative Methods. Katharina received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2011, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Stanford Neurodevelopment, Affect, and Psychopathology Laboratory from 2011-2015 through the support of an NIMH F32 Grant and NARSAD Young Investigator Grant. Katharina continues to collaborate with the lab in research examining mechanisms of mood and anxiety disorders. Katharina’s work at the NIMH focuses on the brain and behavioral mechanisms of mood and anxiety disorders in youth, using a multi-method approach (neuroimaging, behavioral paradigms, experience sampling methodology). She is also interested in using knowledge gained in basic science to guide the development of mechanism-driven interventions.
